Painting and Photography

I have always been fascinated by art, specially if it tries to imitate life in its reality. When I was still attending architecture, a course on visual arts introduced me to painting. I learned to paint and I started trying to create beautiful pictures.

Painting is tedious, when I see something that inspires me to paint, I start. But it would take hours, days and even months before I would finish one work, and most of the time, my product would not reflect how I felt when it was started.

Photography is faster, and it's still painting – painting with light. A few months ago, I bought my first Digital SLR a Nikon D3100.

The internet is my library, I go to websites discussing photography, digital or traditional. I read and try to convert knowledge to skill. And since its just been three months since I had my camera, I'm still learning. I'm taking my time.

Most of the time I use graphic softwares, Photoshop at work and GIMP at home. The first thing I did with my camera was follow the settings suggested by someone at a website, put my camera on auto then shoot whatever I think would make a beautiful picture, then retouch with software.

Recently, I learned how to use the manual mode of my camera - how to adjust my aperture, ISO and shutter speed. I think it can be considered progress.

I'm still learning...
